A Girl’s Saturday Night Out Preparedness Guide

It’s finally Wednesday, with only two short days until the weekend festivities commence.  There is a buzz in the air about the upcoming event on Saturday night.  In a work, hard play hard cultured environment, it’s the norm to spend each and every working hour absorbed in finishing projects and meeting deadlines, so that the week’s accomplishments may be celebrated by connecting with friends, sipping cocktails and dancing the night away.  After all, we are working for the weekend right?

In order to exude the confidence necessary to make the night an unforgettable one, every girl wants to look and feel their very best.  While a man may shave, splash on a little cologne and slip into his favorite pair of jeans, a girl’s steps for preparing for a glamorous Saturday night are a bit more intricate.

This is a little glimpse of my personal Saturday Night Out preparedness.

Chose a smoking outfit-This is at the top of the totem pole when it comes to prioritizing.  Remember to choose an outfit that is an expression of who you are.  Peplum tube top dresses are my personal favorite because it accentuates the posture, while keeping it classy and figure flattering.

Fight gravity-Although, I try to maintain regular visits to the gym, I make a concerted effort to increase the frequency of my cardio and strength training workouts from two times a week to three leading up to the big night.  I’ve got to get the third hour in to wear the dress that’s been pre-selected and hanging in my closet.

Eat right-I skip the blueberry muffin that I indulge in twice a week for breakfast, and substitute it for a protein packed meal such as Oatmeal or Greek Yogurt.  In order to keep it right and keep it tight, I keep it light by eating salads for lunch  a few days prior.

Glow like a Goddess-A spray tan is a must! Even if a trip to the Caribbean isn’t in the cards, I can still look like I just walked off the white sands of the Bahamas with a 60 second spray tan.

Mani/Pedi-The devil is in the details!  My nails and toes must be flawless.  Even if you’re a fashionista on a budget, a fresh coat of polish can go a long way.

Makeup-Every girl has that one facial feature that just stands out.  My eyes are the most prominent feature of my face, so I accentuate them with my favorite makeup item of all time, Mascara! While some beauty looks come and go, flawless eyes and prominent lips will never go out of style.  Remember to be bold and don’t blend in.

Accessorize-Get creative by choosing the right accessories for your outfit.  I often chose my outfit around my shoes, not vice versa.  The right choice in accessories will help you stand out and shine like a Diamond!

Perfume-I’m addicted.  Although my dresser is filled with a plethora of  perfume selections, I save my personal favorite for the big night out.  My top pick is “The One” by Dolce and Gabbana, which is a warm, oriental floral scent with modern sensuality.  Appeal to the senses by choosing the scent that mixes perfectly with your body’s chemistry.  Ladies, you know exactly what I mean.

I am sure that each girl has their own habitual routine prior to getting ready for a night out on the town.  Although it’s important to make a statement by looking your very best, be confident with the girl behind the makeup. The body is a temple, so be good to it by maintaining a regular exercise routine and a healthy diet.  True beauty lies within, so regardless of what’s on the exterior, hold your head up, smile and enjoy your night to let loose.  In the words spoken by a woman that was considered the epitome of grace and charm during her heyday. “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” Audrey Hepburn

P.S.-Thank you for letting me share my tips.  Please take the time to share this with your friends and send me your advice for getting ready for a big night. I’ll look for your comments on the Planet Beach blog.
