We are thrilled to announce that Michelle McKay was voted Planet Beach International Cover Model of the Year! The results were revealed Tuesday during the annual Planet Beach Franchisee Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Michelle McKay is from Sarnia, Ontario Canada. She graduated with an honors degree in Family and Social Relations with a minor in French and a bachelor’s degree in Education. She began her modeling career with Planet Beach in 2011 and is dedicated to continuing to pursue her passion for expressing her individuality and personality through modeling.
“It is an amazing feeling to represent a brand that truly inspires individuals to live a happier lifestyle. The Planet Beach Cover Model Competition has forever changed my life and I am truly grateful,” said Michelle.
When Michelle was first selected as one of the 2015 Cover Models, we asked her what three words best reflect Planet Beach. “When I think of the Planet Beach company, these three words come to mind instantly: Inner Outer Beauty. The Planet Beach products and services make me feel beautiful inside and out. They truly capture the essence of my inner and outer beauty by providing different ways to feel and look your best.”
The Planet Beach International Cover Model Search was open to women from around the world, ages 18 to 40, who embody the Planet Beach lifestyle: an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for personal self-improvement, as well as an interest in the beauty and wellness industry. The top five finalists represented Planet Beach in promotional materials, in-spa designs and marketing campaigns worldwide.

We all know how important it is to protect your skin in the summertime. However, we tend to forget that the sun can damage more than just skin. Protect your hair with these easy tips:
– Wear hair product with SPF filters. Reapply as often as you reapply your sunscreen.
– Wear a hat! This will provide an extra layer of protection for both your scalp and hair.
– Use a smoothing serum to keep frizz at bay.
– Avoid using heating tools. You’re already getting so much heat from the sun that blow drying or flat ironing will just add additional damage.
– Fight oil when you’re sweating more by washing your hair less. Use dry shampoo or witch hazel for quick fixes to diminish the appearance of oily hair.
– Use deep conditioning treatments to nourish and soothe dry, damaged hair.

Flattering on everyone, the smoky eye is one of the sexiest makeup looks, but also one of the most difficult to accomplish. Here’s a quick guide to mastering the sexy smolder:
- Shadow primer is an essential. It makes a huge difference in how long your eye makeup lasts. Dab some around your eyelid.
- Rim your lower lash line with a THIN line of black eyeliner pencil. You can smudge it with a small angled brush or even a moist Q-tip. The whole point of a smoky eye is to avoid clean lines. It’s all about the blur.
- Use an angled brush to apply gray powder shadow on and directly under the liner. A slate gray with a little shimmer is easier to blend than a matte shadow.
- Trace over the gray with a bit of black shadow. Don’t use too heavy of a hand here or you’ll end up looking like a raccoon.
- Using one finger, lift your eyelid and use the pencil to line the uppermost rim of your lashes, making sure to get between each small gap between the individual lashes.
- Sweep gray powder along your upper eyelid, going slightly past the outer corner. This will make your eyes look larger and vamp up the look.
- Dab black shadow from the middle of the crease to the outer corner. Clean up any stray powder that may have fallen underneath your eyes with a damp Q-tip or tissue.
- Use a larger, traditional shadow brush to sweep over the entire area under all edges are blended. Using this same brush, dab a bit of gray crème shadow across the eyelid and crease.
- Finish with volumizing mascara on both top and bottom lashes.
Voila! You’ve just mastered the smoky eye!

If you’re tired of the struggle, I have some summer beauty hacks you’ll want to learn – and put to memory – ASAP. They may seem a bit crazy, but they’re downright effective when the temperature skyrockets.
Baby Powder
We have all heard of using baby powder as a dry shampoo, but it also works miracles at the beach! If you’re like me and loathe the sand, but love the beach, try sprinkling baby powder on your hands, feet and, anywhere that sand may stick to you. The powder will absorb the sweat and salt water (which is what makes the sand sticky) and allows you to wipe the sand off immediately! It may seem odd, just trust me on this one.
Freeze Aloe Vera Lotion
Let’s be honest, there are days that we are having too much fun on the beach and forget to reapply our sunscreen. Try freezing aloe vera lotion into ice cube trays . Aloe vera is one of the best ways to soothe burned skin, but chilled aloe vera is even better. If you keep it in your freezer all summer long, you can just pop out a cube or two when you need some extra relief! Your skin is already thanking you for this hack.
Dryer Sheets
Chances are, you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors this summer. If mosquitos love you and you want to avoid being eaten alive, try rubbing dryer sheets all over the parts of your skin that may be vulnerable to bites (arms, legs), and you can even take extra precaution by keeping a dryer sheet in each pocket! This works as an effective bug repellent. Not to mention, dryer sheets smell a whole lot better than bug spray !
