Here at Planet Beach we understand the intricacies, the complexities, the wonders found within every person and the need to address and help everyone. We are all different people and all have our own stories. We are here to provide every individual with the opportunity to relax, let go, and find yourself a comfortable, meditative place. With our relaxation services provided, we understand the importance of a healthy mind and soul.

The art of letting go is a complex one. Most of the time we are probably well aware of what is causing problems, but adressing them and putting the first step forward is the hardest and most important part! Instead of holding onto the things that make us unhappy or cause suffering, let it go!

Here are some excellent tips on letting go and living a healthier life:

Give up your need to always be right: There are so many of us who can’t stand the idea of being wrong – wanting to always be right – even at the risk of ending great relationships or causing a great deal of stress and pain, for us and for others. It’s just not worth it. Whenever you feel the ‘urgent’ need to jump into a fight over who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself this question: “Would I rather be right, or would I rather be kind?” Wayne Dyer.

Give up your need for control: Be willing to give up your need to always control everything that happens to you and around you – situations, events, people, etc. Whether they are loved ones, coworkers, or just strangers you meet on the street – just allow them to be. Allow everything and everyone to be just as they are and you will see how much better will that make you feel.

“By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond winning.” Lao Tzu

Give up your self-defeating self-talk: Oh my. How many people are hurting themselves because of their negative, polluted and repetitive self-defeating mindset? Don’t believe everything that your mind is telling you – especially if it’s negative and self-defeating. You are better than that.
“The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive.” Eckhart Tolle

Give up complaining: Give up your constant need to complain about those many things – people, situations, events that make you unhappy, sad and depressed. Nobody can make you unhappy, no situation can make you sad or miserable unless you allow it to. It’s not the situation that triggers those feelings in you, but how you choose to look at it. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking.

Give up your resistance to change: Change is good. Change will help you move from A to B. Change will help you make improvements in your life and also the lives of those around you. Follow your bliss, embrace change – don’t resist it.
“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls” Joseph Campbell

Give up the past: I know, I know. It’s hard. Especially when the past looks so much better than the present and the future looks so frightening, but you have to take into consideration the fact that the present moment is all you have and all you will ever have. The past you are now longing for – the past that you are now dreaming about – was ignored by you when it was present. Stop deluding yourself. Be present in everything you do and enjoy life. After all life is a journey not a destination. Have a clear vision for the future, prepare yourself, but always be present in the now.

Give up attachment: This is a concept that, for most of us is so hard to grasp and I have to tell you that it was for me too, (it still is) but it’s not something impossible. You get better and better at with time and practice. The moment you detach yourself from all things, (and that doesn’t mean you give up your love for them – because love and attachment have nothing to do with one another,  attachment comes from a place of fear, while love… well, real love is pure, kind, and self less, where there is love there can’t be fear, and because of that, attachment and love cannot coexist) you become so peaceful, so tolerant, so kind, and so serene. You will get to a place where you will be able to understand all things without even trying. A state beyond words.

Give up living your life to other people’s expectations: Way too many people are living a life that is not theirs to live. They live their lives according to what others think is best for them, they live their lives according to what their parents think is best for them, to what their friends, their enemies and their teachers, their government and the media think is best for them. They ignore their inner voice, that inner calling. They are so busy with pleasing everybody, with living up to other people’s expectations, that they lose control over their lives. They forget what makes them happy, what they want, what they need….and eventually they forget about themselves.  You have one life – this one right now – you must live it, own it, and especially don’t let other people’s opinions distract you from your path.

Here at Planet Beach, we know first hand the importance of maintaining healthy, beautiful skin. We will always continue to provide products and services that better the lives of each and every individual! We are so happy to see great success stories, before and after shots, and overall lifestyle comments about how people genuinely feel better about themselves! Nothing makes us feel happier.

Skincare is a complex subject for starters! As you know, there are millions of products out there that do this and that, all ranging from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars! There are endless choices, but none of which tell you the interesting facts about the most intimate layer of clothing you have, your skin!

The skin is the largest organ in the body and weighs 12 – 15% of the total body weight.

There are 2 different types of skin

  • Glaborous skin which is non hairy (i.e. soles of feet and palms of hands)
  • Hairy skin

The average human being has 21 sq ft of skin and about 300 million skin cells.

The skin is constantly renewing itself from the bottom up and takes 52 – 77 days to shed cells.

Humans shed about 600,000 particles of skin every hour – about 1.5 pounds a year. By 70 years of age, an average person will have lost 105 pounds of skin. Wow!

Each half square inch of skin has approx 10 hairs, 15 sebaceous glands, 100 sweat glands, 3.2 feet of tiny blood vessels.

There are 45 miles of nerves in the skin of a human being. That is longer than my commute to work!

Seventy percent of the dust in your home consists of shed human skin. Those dust bunnies are not cute.

Goose bumps are actually little pimples that help retain a layer of warm air over our body.

Big, big, crazy fact: globally, dead skin accounts for about a billion tons of dust in the atmosphere. Wow!

As you can see, our skin plays a huge part in our overall health. Our skin works overtime to keep us healthy, thank your skin by giving yourself a big hug and giving it the nutrients it needs to take even better care of you!

Skin facts derived from Good Skin Health

As we get out of that dark, cold, dry winter and enter the warmth of spring our skin starts adjusting to all of the temperature changes. It is very important to consider a great skin moisturizer to help give your skin the care it deserves!

If you have dry, oily or sensitive skin you should never skip the moisturizing step in your daily routine. You may have seen redness or flaking before. This is when you should definitely moisturize. Sometimes it even cracks and bleeds, EWW! Enough times of not moisturizing can allow wrinkles and other aging signs to show up on your skin earlier than they otherwise might.

If you have sensitive skin or a skin condition, moisturizing regularly can help ease some of the irritation. I have always heard, and have tried this myself, but the best time to moisturize is after you get out of the shower. While you’re even in the shower use a loofah or an exfoliating body scrub to to exfoliate your skin. Removing any dead skin cells before adding moisturizer will help your skin absorb it even more!

Really though, moisturize your skin! Simply applying moisturizer everyday can keep your skin from drying out and adding unwanted years to your skin! Make sure you apply to your entire body, not just your face! It doesn’t matter what time of year, keep your skin looking hydrated year long!

Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday is recommended to maintain overall hydration and good health for the body. The skin works the same way. If you give it what it needs, it will give you what you want ; ) and that is beautiful, glowing, healthy skin.

With so many responsibilities, pressures, and goals, the weight of the world can easily come crashing down sometimes. Not only does it affect our sense of selves, it also affects others around you. Many of us have experienced heightened, stressful situations before, whether it be a family issue, school, sports or the workplace. There are just too many situations out there to cover them all!

Stress literally means “too much.” When you have experienced a long day, and things just keep piling on, you begin to experience “too much.”

Before you think all stress is bad consider that there are different levels of stress, even good stress!

  • Good stress: When you are presented with a challenge, you rise to that challenge, generally have a good outcome, and you feel exhilarated
  • Tolerable stress: Occurs when something bad happens, such as a job loss, but you have the inner resources as well as people you can turn to who help you get through it.
  • Toxic stress: When bad things happen,  and they may be really bad, or you don’t have the financial or internal resources to handle them. This type of stress causes emotional and physical problems.

It is incredibly easy to get wrapped up, caught up, and left stressed out and eventually burned out in most of these situations. The first thing you need to realize is that you are definitely not alone. We are all human beings experiencing, well, life. Each and every one of us has a story, has a good story, has a sad story, has experienced something beautiful and something sad. Everyone has experienced something stressful in their lives, whether its emotional or something else.

Take a DEEP breath. Really. Something as simple as calming and relaxing your breath can physically reduce tension found within your body. Think about where you are and how lucky you are. You are alive, you are able to give, to share, to smile, to love. That in itself is the most special thing within all of us humans. Getting rid of the built up tension and all the small things will create more room to breathe easy!

Think of it this way:

You have a glass jar, some rocks, pebbles, and sand. The rocks represent the really important things in your life such as your family, friends,  health and your passion. The pebbles represent the secondary things in your life that give it meaning, but are perhaps not your life’s work. The sand represents the small, materialistic, time consuming things such as tv, video games, facebook, ect.

If you start by putting all of the sand in the jar first, the pebbles second, and the rocks on top you’ll see that not everything will fit in the jar.

If you put the rocks in first, the pebbles in second, and the sand on top, you’ll see that everything will fit inside the jar.

If you start with the big goals, the most important things first, then the smaller things will move around to fill the space.  The reverse, however, is not true.

The next time you start to become stressed out just remind yourself about the important things, and that the important things come first, so don’t sweat the small stuff : )

Remember, keep your head up high, be grateful for everything you have, focus on the important things, and you will begin to live a happier, healthier, stress free life!
