Do What Makes Your Soul Happy

We have the power to control our destiny when it comes to living a life of fulfillment by choosing happiness every day.  People who are happy choose to make happiness among their top goals in life, according to psychologist Tom G. Stevens, Ph.D. and author of You Can Choose to Be Happy. “Choose to take advantage of opportunities to learn how to be happy,” Stevens told WebMD. “For example, reprogram your beliefs and values. Learn good self-management skills, good interpersonal skills, and good career-related skills. Choose to be in environments and around people that increase your probability of happiness. The people who become the happiest and grow the most are those who also make truth and their own personal growth primary values.”

I personally find that I’m more productive, motivated and creative when I’m in a positive state of mind. In addition, when I feel happy, I communicate more effectively and make better, more informed decisions. These are my personal tips for increasing happiness:

Get Healthy-Working out is my ultimate therapy! It always makes me feel de-stressed, accomplished and relaxed. Although some prefer to work out in the morning, I love to grab my coffee in the mornings, power through my workday and end it on a high note with a vigorous workout.

Be Grateful-I never let my feet hit the floor in the morning before thanking God! Expressing gratitude through journaling is a highly effective way to foster happiness. Researchers have found that people who write down things for which they are grateful for have increased satisfaction in life, higher energy levels, and improved health.  Most recently, I’ve journaled my joys of 2020! Although it was a rough year, I made a point to write down the things that brought me happiness.

Enhance your relationships & surround yourself with positive people-according to a Harvard study, the happiest and healthiest people were those that maintained close, intimate relationships. People who engage in meaningful conversations with friends or family report being happier than those who don’t. Nurturing relationships with others is so instrumental to long term happiness.  Additionally, there is nothing worse than surrounding yourself with chronic complainers or negative nellies. You know the ones. Limit your interactions with them and choose to be around positive people who choose happiness and productivity.

Visit Planet Beach-this is my one stop shop for my beauty and wellness needs. The other day, I stopped in for a therapeutic UV session and followed it with a Sunless Spray Tan to kick off the weekend.  After leaving, I felt like an ultimate glow-getter, which is defined as a driven, busy gal who strives to achieve her goals in life while attaining a beautiful glow both inside and out.

Audrey Hepburn stated, “The most important thing is to enjoy your life. To be happy. It’s all that matters.”  Therefore, do what makes your soul happy and choose it every day.
